本展覧会は、坂上桂子先生が企画され、坂上ゼミに在籍する大学院生たちが、カタログ編集や運営に携わりました。(展覧会カタログ目次)

展覧会概要（カタログより引用）

まだ戦後の空気が残る1960年代前後、当時アートシーンの中心だったニューヨークに多くの日本人アーティストが渡り、様々に活動を行いました。

本展覧会では、こうしたアーティストたちの作品を通じて、彼らがその頃どのような時代背景の中で、何を考え、何を表現しようとしたのかを検証します。

特に、今回初めて体系的に一般公開される、2017年に本館に寄贈された木村利三郎（1924年～2014年）の版画作品をはじめ、木村と交流のあった荒川修作や白井昭子（白井克彦元総長の姉）らの作品をともに展示し、当時の日本人アーティストたちの動向の一端を浮きぼりにしていきます。

第14回研究会を開催いたしました。
